"Community is an intrinsic part of Berlin's nightlife culture. With this in mind, the main motivation behind the curatorial team's selection process was choosing clubs and collectives that had proven compassion for those most impacted by the pandemic. As a journalist and editor, part of my mission was rewarding those who had the most compelling narratives—the ones who were determined to educate others on the queer Black and brown roots of electronic music, provide refuge for sex workers, and fundraise for refugees. Berlin's club milieu is incredibly grassroots and unapologetically DIY, yet the impact they have on the energy of the city can't be denied. That's why it was such an honor for me to ensure that these groups have the financial backing they deserve to continue their efforts."
