FAQs
What is TAG DER CLUBKULTUR?
TAG DER CLUBKULTUR was launched in 2020 by the Clubcommission on the initiative of the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the Musicboard, and will once again honor the diversity of Berlin‘s club culture and the special commitment of the Berlin scene. An associated prize will award a total of 40 clubs and collectives in the city with 10,000 euros each. This offers the applicants an opportunity to reflect on their contribution to Berlin club culture during the past year and to help shape the club culture of tomorrow.
HOW CAN CLUBS AND COLLECTIVES PARTICIPATE?
All Berlin clubs and collectives can apply for the award in the context of the TAG DER CLUBKULTUR. This year‘s award focuses on two main themes: bridging the pandemic and visions for the future of Berlin club culture. The submission of the application is possible online from August 1 to August 15.
Do we need to address both focus topics in our application?
Both topics are part of your application. However, you can answer one of the two topics in more detail and thus set your own focus.
HOW ARE THE CLUBS AND COLLECTIVES AWARDED?
An independent, five-member board of trustees, representing the diversity of the Berlin club scene, decides on the awards for TAG DER CLUBKULTUR. This year, the board of trustees consists of DJ Gigola, Lewamm „Lu“ Ghebremariam, Pansy, Volkan Ağar and Whitney Wei. Once again this year, general criteria will be part of the evaluation process of the submissions. These include the artistic and programmatic profile, the significance of the club or collective for Berlin club culture, awareness, diversity and anti-discrimination, ecological sustainability, promotion of young talent, contribution to international dialogue, and solidarity with employees and others.
WHAT PROGRAM CRITERIA APPLY TO THE EVENTS ON TAG DER CLUBKULTUR?
The Board of Trustees attaches particular importance to diversity and equality in booking as well as fair pay and support for local artists. The showcases shouldn’t include headliners that have to be flown in but should rather strengthen residencies and the local (club) culture. Therefore, interdisciplinary and intersectional program designs, diverse and gender-balanced lineups, sustainable hygiene and safety concepts as well as an overview of the recommended fees of the participating artists are requested.
Do we need a confirmed location on 03.10. upon submission?
We do not expect a final confirmation for a location. However, a concept usually also includes a location. So ask yourself beforehand what you want to do and how you want to set up. If you have problems finding a location, the “Freiflächen-Team” of Clubcommission can help you.

Is a budget plan for the VA on 3 October part of the submission?

Essentially, the money is available for free use, a proof of use is not required. One possibility would be, for example, to use the money as the personal contribution in future funding programs.
